Reports to: Receiving Manager

Purpose: Oversee all of receiving, and supervise the receipt of all in-bound/outbound products with accuracy and speed.

Supervisory Responsibility:

Supervise all receiving team members and provides guidance to any others working within area of responsibility

Essential Functions:

  • Ensuring tasks and documentation are completed neatly, completely, accurately and timely
  • Being cooperative, flexible and open to change to ensure a “win/win” outcome
  • Providing the safest workplace possible where individuals feel a personal sense of responsibility for their safety and the safety of team mates, to include safe operation of equipment, reporting maintenance needs or unsafe practices, following GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) standards in warehouse locations, and maintaining a neat and clean work environment free of hazards.   • Responsible for ensuring proper product temperatures are reviewed, validated, maintained and documented with date, code and count in WMS (warehouse management system) from arrival at dock until put away, ensuring quality of products is never compromised
  • Ensure trucks are unloaded properly and safely
  • Ensure all pallets are tagged and recorded appropriately
  • Must ensure the accurate location of product and protection of the same is adhered to by all employees
  • Help control the OSHA Incident Rate (OIR) and Lost Time Incident Rate (LTI) by monitoring sanitation, safe working conditions, ensuring safety policies are followed, holding pre-shift meetings and proper usage of material handling equipment
  • Monitor/audit daily for GMP, COOL procedures (Country of Origin Labeling), HAACP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) and other food safety guidelines
  • Complete and file error and exception walk through template, pre-shift assignment and update template and equipment condition checklists
  • Check computerized time/attendance on a daily basis to verify team members have the proper time clock punches in the system
  • Ensure all team member forms for Time Adjustment, PTO requests, etc. are coordinated for staffing purposes and turned into HR timely for processing in the correct pay period
  • Account for any inventory losses/product shrink
  • Review and take action based on daily and weekly APT and Utilization reports to ensure acceptable levels of performance are maintained
  • Ensures all paperwork (logs, driver bills, operational documents) are completed and turned in on a daily and weekly basis as required
  • Collect/analyze data to identify opportunities for improvement and solutions
  • Understanding budget requirements, and identifying opportunities for cost control to include controlling wage expenses through shift scheduling and reduction of overtime
  • Works closely with Operations Manager to maximize employee performance and improve employee/management relations
  • Certified to operate and train all team members on required MHE
  • Participate in the hiring process to include interviews, selection, etc.
  • Responsible for department onboarding, retention and training
  • Provides performance reviews for team members
  • Provides input to manager regarding promotions and terminations
  • Creating an environment of accountability for individual and team performance through analyzing and communicating metrics
  • Crosstrain in all receiving team positions to stay current on duties, training and reaching minimum productivity levels

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Education - High school diploma or GED. College coursework, continuing technical education or comparable business experience preferred
  • Supervisory experience in a warehouse environment preferred
  • Ability to accommodate flexible schedules to meet the needs of the customer to include nights, weekends and holidays as needed
  • Ability to read labels and documents with corrected or uncorrected vision
  • Ability to utilize good hand-eye coordination and depth perception to operate forklift, reach truck and HiLo safely and accurately
  • Ability to apply strong math skills that result in identification of opportunities and justify action plan recommendations
  • Ability to provide clear and constructive feedback, coaching, and counseling

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to independently lift up to 50 lbs frequently and 100 pounds rarely
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, squat on a frequent to continual basis in a warehouse environment
  • Must be able to push or pull (such as boxes of product, or a hand truck) on a frequent basis or reach for individual product on a frequent basis
  • Must be able to step up onto and down from equipment as required by task (such as forklift, reach truck, etc.)
  • Must be able to adjust to fluctuating temperatures and withstand freezing temperatures as low as -20 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Must be able to work in a noisy warehouse environment
  • Must be able to wear and communicate through headsets for long periods as required by location
  • Must be able to work while wearing appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for the job (such as steel-toed protective footwear, harness, safety glasses, hard hat, gloves, insulated clothing, etc.)
  • May be exposed to products which may contain food allergens (such as fish, shellfish, peanuts, etc.)
