Job Description

Our client, located in southwestern Wisconsin, is a dairy manufacturer specializing in the production of brie and feta cheese.  We are seeking a technically savvy Maintenance Manager to lead their maintenance department of an assistant manager, 4 supervisors and 25 hourly maintenance techs.  This person must be knowledgeable and experienced with 21st century PLC automation and robotic technology in a food manufacturing environment (dairy (cheese) industry is preferred AND a management leader.

The ideal candidate will have 5 year’s experience in maintenance with in the dairy industry and/or food industry and 3 - 5 year’s experience in a management/supervisory role.  Additionally, this person will be proactive and dynamic, flexible and receptive to new ideas, down to earth and pragmatic, analytical and attentive to detail.  He or she will also be capable of working independently in adherence to regulations, of managing stress and remaining calm under pressure, and be able to demonstrate an inquiring mind and well-developed observational skills.  Will demonstrate a sense of responsibility and high professional standards, honesty and integrity, and objectivity.  Possess values of ambition and engagement, with simplicity.


§  Manage the work of the maintenance team

§  Manage Staff:  integrate, train, appraise, redefine responsibilities, praise, ensure development and gauge training needs

§  Conduct interviews as necessary

§  Manage a team:  delegate, instill a sense of responsibility, set targets, communicate instructions, control, listen

§  Provide reports to management

§  Cooperate with other management personnel in formulating and establishing company policies, operating procedures and goals

§  Apply well-defined standards (costs, budgets)

§  Record maintenance data

§  Analyze and evaluate maintenance data and determine the negative or positive net effect

§  Propose technical and organizational improvements to line management

§  Be involved in trials (machines, products, processes etc.)

§  Works with Plant Director and Project Manager in scheduling maintenance in a manner which maximizes the department’s capabilities while meeting the plant’s needs

§  Monitors Work orders, PM’s, and Expense Budget

§  Organize their team’s output (efficiencies, headcount etc.)

§  Plan and schedule manpower consistent with maintenance requirements

Job Requirements


•         Technical degree in Technical/Engineering discipline preferred
