Our client, a Chicago based custom fabrication company driven by passionate artisans creating world-class sets, scenery and exhibits for opera, theater, museum and corporate clients is seeking a Sr. Project Manager to their organization. This person will be responsible for managing large scale projects from initial estimations, through installation and final punch list. He/she is responsible for all aspects of project management, including: developing and following a schedule, engineering elements efficiently, ensuring that standards are met, maintaining strong internal and external communication, ordering materials in a timely manner, maintaining budgets, ensuring schedules are met, and “driving” their assigned project.

Responsibilities to include:

Is a confident and competent business relationship builder

Solid verbal and written communication skills

Hyper attention to detail

Meets with client or designer to fully understand and determine scope of project.

Prepares bid/proposal, reviews with DOP or President, and submits to client.

In collaboration with the project team, determines the best methods and materials for achieving design objectives, proper engineering, efficient fabrication techniques, and material types.

Orders job specific materials, supplies and sub-contractors.

Ensures all milestones and project deadlines are met.

Conducts frequent inspections of work in progress to maintain desired level of quality.

Tracks labor and materials as project progresses, to ensure project is completed within budget.

Carefully tracks all change orders.

Keeps client well informed as job progresses.

Follows up with client upon completion of project.

Always makes the client feel like they are being taken care of.


5-10 years of project management experience in architectural millwork or museum displays

Strong and effective communication skills

Attention to detail, accuracy, and quality control

Strong knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), project management software and AutoCAD a plus

Critical thinking

Curious, proactive and self-aware.

Strong organizational skills and hyper attention to detail

Ability to perform independently

Technically proficient in a variety of fabrication processes including cabinetry, millwork, theatrical fabrication, metal work and welding, paint finishing, plastics and others.

Some travel may be required with this position.
