Essential Functions of the HR Manager:

•         Responsible for recruitment, employee orientation, training and development, talent management/succession planning, policy development and administration.

•         Manages all recruitment and selection activities for all organizational levels (unionized and non-union); ensures processes/procedures in place to meet the staffing needs of the organization. Develops long term recruiting & retention strategies for sourcing talent. 

•         Provides counsel and advice to leadership team in areas related to company policies, employment standards and laws, performance and attendance issues, termination procedures, harassment issues, conflict issues, progressive discipline, employee development, and employee relations. 

•         Supports and coaches client’s Leadership Team on client’s global policies, employment standards and laws etc.

•         Ensures adherence to applicable Human Rights Legislation, Employment Standards, Employment Equity and Labor Laws within the appropriate regions. 

•         Identifies organizational issues/areas of concern through analysis of general employee concerns and feedback including exit interview survey information.  Works closely with leadership team to provide feedback as well as recommendations for improvement.

•         Manages new employee orientation process for all new hires/ re-hires.

•         Compensation administration including conducting market analysis and salary review process as required.

•         Performance management – annual performance review process; performance improvement plans; etc.

Contribute to 5 “S” initiatives by ensuring work area, computer files, and common areas are maintained in accordance with 5S standards/philosophy

Job Requirements

Qualifications/Requirements:

 

•         University education with direct focus in Human Resources, Business Admin and/or Labor Relations. 

•         Post-secondary education in Human Resource Management, business administration or related discipline. 

•         PHR, SPHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred, working towards or have obtained designation an asset

•         5+ years HR manager experience preferred. 

•         Post-secondary degree or certificate in human resources; equivalent combination of education and/or experience will also be considered.  Knowledge of or experience working within a unionized manufacturing setting an asset. 

•         Specific Job Skills (i.e. computer skills, communication, motivation, organizational skills)

•         Solid problem-solver with sound judgment and decision-making skills.

•         Results oriented individual with strong business acumen and the proven Ability to handle confidential information and ambiguous situations effectively.

•         Confidence in dealing with various levels of the organization in a professional and respectful manner.

•         Ability to multi-task and focus on competing timelines ensuring critical details are managed effectively and timelines are met. 

•         Strong customer service/quality orientation.

•         Excellent communication skills (verbal/written).

•         Good judgment/problem solving ability along with strong customer service and relationship building skills.

•         Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); and Lotus Notes.
