Summary

This position is responsible for day to day accounting and grand financial reporting. In addition, this position is responsible for coordinating the management of company receivables. The position reports the finance director.  The finance Committee has general oversight of finance functions.   

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Prepare and submit the billing and required cost reports for grants, including auditing transactions for accuracy prior to processing

Prepare journal entries for all grant accounting, including recognition of revenue and receivables

Code invoices to allocate expenses to various grants and maintain allocation schedules for vendor payables

Periodically update timesheets to track costs

Communicate with Finance Director regarding variances in budgets

Support other finance personnel in the areas of payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and reconciliations to ensure accuracy

Assist Finance Director with various accounting and finance projects as needed including, but not limited to, the annual audit and the annual budget

Coordinate all program audits and related follow-up

Attend relevant Continuum of Care committee meetings

Attend monthly Finance Committee and Board meetings as needed

Ensure accounting procedures comply with grant requirements

Develop budgets for private and government grant applications as requested

Track outstanding grants for cash-flow forecast and analysis

Manage financial reporting for various grants, including LOCCS, SAGE HMIS, FEMA, and United Way

Other  duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree

Experience:

3-5 years of accounting experience, prefer non-profit and government grant experience

Strong PC skills; proficient in Microsoft Excel, Access, and Word

Experience with QuickBooks or other automated accounting system

Familiarity with contract compliance reporting and systems

Must be detail oriented, accurate, and organized

Strong verbal and written communication skills required

Ability to prioritize projects, manage multiple tasks, work under pressure, and meet deadlines
